Visit To Zapata Falls - April 3, 2007

My visit to Zapata Falls at approximately 1 p.m. on Tuesday provided me with the waterfall all to myself! There were two small parties that I encountered at the parking lot as I was entering and exiting, but that was it.

As you can see, much of creek and waterfall was covered with ice and snow, although the warmer temperatures of the season had made a noticable "dent" as the ice was much wetter. It was a beautiful and sunny day and I was quite grateful to be in such a special place as the San Luis Valley. -Steve

It was a bit tricky traveling back and forth on the creek because of how slippery it was!
